This was the first week back to the world of running. I have got to say that it is phenomenal. Missed it tremendously during OEP. Even though it is only the first week, I can already feel a difference in my body. Even last night Husband mentioned to me how happy I am since I started running again.
Today was only the start of the many long runs that are going to occur during the next few weeks. 5 miles was the distance this morning. It might be the endorphins running through my system but I feel fantastic. Every mile that I run seems to make the worries for the upcoming months a little less stressful and much more manageable. With more “free” time comes more opportunities to just beat the pavement.
I even burned enough calories this morning for a whole bagel. Love those carbs so much. Even though I should probably focus more on the complex carbs instead of simple carbs so that they take awhile to break down and don’t give me the crash later in the day. At least I’m not eating a whole doughnut, or three. . . maybe some other day.
One of the goals towards the Dopey Challenge is to get many miles under my feet as possible before the big race, that is expected to happen in about 713 days, but who’s counting? That is one of those momentous tasks that seems a little overwhelming so I decided to set a “mini” running goal for 2018 of 500 miles. Let’s see what happens by the end of the month.
Does anyone have a guess as to how many miles I will complete by the end of January?
