I’m Jaklin. I’m a full-time mother to two beautiful boys, wife to an amazing husband who is still in college, and work a desk job selling Medicare supplement insurance plans.
I’ve started an incredible journey. I want to participate in the Walt Disney World’s Dopey Challenge. Originally, it was the Boston Marathon, but then I saw those qualifying times I was like, “Nope”. The Dopey Challenge is 4 races in 4 days, (5K [3.1 miles] on Thursday, 10K [6.2 miles] on Friday, Half Marathon [13.1 miles] on Saturday, and a Marathon [26.2 miles] on Sunday) for a total of 48.6 miles of pure unadulterated torture and adventure.
In every fitness training, there is a metamorphosis that occurs. I actually started this journey on April 22, 2017, but didn’t think that the adventure along the way would be something important. I was wrong. To rectify that misjudgment the goal is to blog 2-3 times a week including taking a picture and my stats every two weeks so that I can see this change.
My goal was to do the race in January of 2019, but due to a variety of factors, I won’t be able to do the race until January of 2020. This is going to be a long arduous challenge that will change how I look and feel about myself. Even in the few short weeks that I have already completed, I feel like a brand new person.
A couple disclaimers: 1) I am not doing this to lose weight. Period. End of story. 2) I am not trying to turn into a body builder. Gaining muscle and definition to my body will be a part of the journey 3)To help save up the money to pay for this event for every mile that I complete during training I am putting $1 aside to pay for it. Breaking everything down, it will be about $600 for the racing bibs, $2,000 for Airfare from Reno International Air Port to Orlando Florida, $1,000+ for a week’s hotels stay, renting a car, etc. That means I will need to save about $5,000-$6,000 to even participate which means that I better be smart about how I train, eat, and also my dedication.
If you would like to help me along this journey, please copy and paste the link to my gofundme page.
Also, any money that I make selling my crafts will go towards this event. So I will also be including some crafting tidbits so that you know how dedicated I am to this journey
To make it so that this isn’t my first big race I will be participating in some races close to me along the way.
In the pictures, I will be posting some measurements: Date: Weight, Chest, Waist, R. Arm, L. Arm, R. Thigh, L. Thigh, Hip, and Miles Down.
Thanks for coming along during this metamorphosis. See you on the other side.
